Who says time travel is impossible?

I was 7 years old the last time I was in Antigua, and everything looked just the way I remembered it. Between Volcan de Agua, Acatenango and Volcan de Fuego sits this enchanting city that allows us to travel back in time to Guatemala’s past…

My dad had arrived a few weeks before me and had already gotten back to his roots and was spending a lot of time with the family… now it was my turn 🙂 Antigua was Guatemala’s capital until a major earthquake hit in 1773. The city suffered great damage and much of the population moved away from the city, reducing its population by nearly half. However, Antigua still caters to those of us living in the 21st century. As I walked through the cobble stone streets in awe, admiring the city’s colonial charm of everything that had been preserved (great ruins, churches and friendly faces) I felt at home.
